Six months after being shot by the Taliban in an attack against her female education rights activism, Malala Yousafzai is back in the classroom.
The 15-year old schoolgirl remained defiant in a recorded video message for the BBC, describing her return to school in Birmingham, Central London, as the “happiest moment”.
“I am excited that today I have achieved my dream of going back to school,” she said in a statement.
“I want all girls in the world to have this basic opportunity.
“I miss my classmates from Pakistan very much, but I am looking forward to meeting my teachers and making new friends here in Birmingham.”
Yousafzai will remain in the UK after her father secured a position with the Pakistani consulate in Birmingham.
