Gender inequality leads to more deaths in Pakistan

Growing gender discrimination has sparked a surge in the number of women being murdered in Pakistan, with 432 women already killed in the first six months of 2012, according Pakistan’s Daily Times.

The president of Lawyers for Human Rights and Legal Aid, Zia Awan, has spoken out about the continued violation of women’s rights in Pakistan and how this has resulted in an alarming rate of murders in 2012, compared to 2011 during which 736 women were killed.
