Women in tech to receive recognition they deserve

With women currently making up just 18% of the ICT industry according to ABS figures, highlighting the achievements of the small number of women who have successfully carved out a career in the industry would seem a logical step in promoting the benefits of such a career.

Since its launch in 1997, Women in Technology has been doing just that, highlighting and awarding the achievements of the small (but growing) pool of women working in the biotech and ICT industries.

With sponsorship from organisations including Google, QUT, Queensland Government and Griffith, WiT will this year reward women across nine categories who’ve made significant achievements in the tech sector.

Nominations are open to women in technology, ranging from PhD students to women at executive levels, with categories including women tech entrepreneurs who’ve launched out on their own, women who’ve made significant contributions in the field of ICT research and the ‘Rising Star’ award for women who’ve made a measurable difference in the early stages of their career.

Nominations are now open for the awards. If you know a women in technology who’s worthy of some recognition, get nominating.
