Thérèse Rein takes out champion entrepreneur award

Thérèse Rein was last night named a 2012 Australian Champion of Entrepreneurship at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Brisbane.

Rein, worth approximately $210 million according to this year’s BRW Rich 200, is the founder and managing director of Ingeus, which provides employment services across 150 locations worldwide. Founded in 1989, today Ingeus assists more than 100,000 socially and financially excluded people into suitable, sustained employment each year, and is now the largest provider of employment services in the UK.

At the forefront of Ingeus’s efforts to help governments and international bodies better understand and respond to workforce participation challenges, Rein was also recognised for her work with Assure Programs, a psychology services business, which Ingeus acquired in October last year.

Following last night’s announcement, Kevin Rudd shared the news on Facebook and said: “Very proud of Therese receiving the E&Y Champion of Entrepreneurship award tonight at the State Library in Bris.”

More than 60 nominees from across the country were announced in May this year, with the regional winners going on to compete at the national awards in November. The overall national winner will go to Monte Carlo to represent Australia at the World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
