Taylor Swift has been included on the 2015 Forbes list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, making her the youngest woman to ever make the list.
The 25-year-old placed at number 64 on the list. Forbes noted the success of her album 1989, which sold 3.5 million copies last year, “making her one of only three artists with a platinum album in 2014”. Forbes also mentioned Taylor’s decision to pull her music from the popular streaming platform Spotify, writing that she is one of the platform’s “most outspoken critics”.
Taylor is in great company on the Forbes list, with Angela Merkel, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama and Sheryl Sandberg all featuring in the top ten. Taylor also joins other well-known celebrities such as Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, Beyonce, Sofia Vergara and Angelina Jolie on the Forbes list.
While Taylor has previously featured on the Forbes World’s Most Powerful Celebrities List (coming in at number 18 last year), this is the first time that she has featured in the Most Powerful Women list.
And it’s more than understandable why. Taylor has a network of fans across her social media platforms – millions of followers, who are referred to as ‘Swifties’. Taylor makes a huge effort to comment widely across networks and go above and beyond to make meaningful contributions to the lives of her fans.
In the past, Taylor has been known to stage ‘Swiftmas‘ and send surprise Christmas presents to random fans. She has also sent money to fans to contribute to their student loans, invited them to her house to eat homemade cookies and celebrate her album launch, and let them feature in her music videos.
The pop star is also well-known for regularly visiting fans in hospital and contributing to charity, even being named the year’s most charitable celebrity in 2014 by non-profit social group DoSomething.org.
