Julia Gillard to join Women’s Agenda to celebrate emerging female leaders

When we sat down to discuss who to invite to speak at the NAB Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards luncheon, one woman came up as a clear favourite — our former prime minister and first woman in the job, Julia Gillard.

Each year we ask our guest speaker to talk about resilience — we believe it’s vital to the success of any emerging leader — and we couldn’t think of any other women more able to address just how necessary resilience is for a leadership career.

Today, we’re very happy to announce that Gillard will join us in Sydney on the 26th February, 2015.

In her three years as Prime Minister and 16 years in politics, Gillard proved women can compete in combative and adversarial environments, and survive even the most hostile of situations. Whether you liked her politics or not, she smashed all the stereotypes about women in leadership. We believe her colleague Wayne Swan was spot on when he called her one of the “toughest warriors” the Labor party had seen.

There is much we can learn from Gillard about resilience. And we’d love you join us to hear what our former prime minister has to say.

Now in its third year, the NAB Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards luncheon is a fun, festive celebration of female leadership talent. It’s a great place to catch up with friends and colleagues, and to network with new contacts. The luncheon includes a three-course meal in a stunning location, with a diverse range of inspiring women taking the stage to share what they’ve learnt, and their stories of success.

Tickets are on sale now. This event has previously sold out so we encourage you to make the most of our early bird offer.

Women’s Agenda members (My Agenda) receive a significant discount. So if you’ve been thinking about joining our network for career coaching, resources and events, now is the time.
