Warning to men: Avoid areas cohabited by women*

In the wake of this year’s 23rd female death by violence, men are today being reminded of the grave risks presented to them by their engagement in both public and private arenas.

Victoria’s homicide squad chief Detective Inspector Mick Hughes has told ABC Radio National that women must exercise restraint in their use of public spaces such as parks and footpaths.

With so many women flouting the basic courtesies of our once civilised society, men’s rights leader Richard Cranium warns that men need to be more vigilant now than ever.

“We’re seeing women on public transport after 6pm, sometimes returning home from work even later. These women are often insistent on taking the routes most convenient to them, and it’s posing an increased risk of committing a violent crime to many men in the community.

“This comes as an added threat to men, already struggling with threat of women who continue to wear clothing that they enjoy, indulge in night time drinking and regularly exercise alone in their own neighbourhoods. We’ve heard a number of reports of women who insist on remaining in domestic relationships or continuing friendships with men they have known for years, unaware of the risks they are posing to the men they claim to respect.”

The consequences of these escalating violent and sexual assaults are dire for their male perpetrators, who can often face judgement from members of the community, and potential sentencing laws which threaten to restrict their predatory freedoms for months or years at a time.

Cranium is adamant that responsibility must be taken by the wider female community if this issue is to be addressed.

“It is an unfortunate world where we must keep reminding men of their need to remain vigilant in the face of such flagrant temptation, but sadly women just don’t seem to be getting the message.”
