Three top shaving tips

Let’s talk shaving. Shaving legs, specifically. Something almost all of us do (sometimes, not as often as we should!) That can all change, however, with the rights tools and know how. Don’t make shaving a bore, make it a fun and pampering part of your beauty routine instead. Your legs will love you for it and you’ll never have to shy away from wearing your favourite dress sans tights next time the sun is shining.

First tip: Pick the right razor

Features of the right razor include: sharp, clean, and infused with hydrating properties to deter what some think of as the ‘inevitable’ dry skin associated with shaving.

Features of the wrong razor include: blunt, single-bladed, flimsy, anything designed for a man’s face.

Been using the ‘wrong razor’? The good news? You can fix this in a instant by popping off to the shops (or unwrapping your September bellabox, you lucky member, you!) and getting your hands on the SCHICK Hydro Silk Razor. Trust me. Fork out the extra $5 for this beauty essential and you’ll never put shaving off again.

It features a new 5-curve sensing blades technology, which means more blades to reduce more hairs, even closer to your skin than before. And you know what that means? Smoother legs for longer and less time getting ready in the morning – or an extra mid-week sleep in thanks to not having to factor in extra beauty prep time.

It also contains that important hydrating strip (that doesn’t peel off and get caught in the drain after one shave). Water-activated, this moisturising serum encased in the razor blades ensures that skin exposure to common moisture-loss is massively decreased, as well as helping to reduce skin irritation due to shaving.

Second tip: Scrub up

You should actually scrub up PRE shave, otherwise your legs will get irritated. But you need to buy your razor first – no dripping wet, naked dashes to the shops please! – which is why this is step two! Scrubbing pre-shave will help to soften hairs and remove dead skin, making for an even smoother, cleaner shave. Try a scrub containing moisturising oils; the desert-like Pure Fiji Coconut Scrub Sugar Rub. The fresh sugar cane crystals and naturally occurring alpha hydroxyl inside help to exfoliate your skin, and lock in moisture, even pre-shave.

Third tip: Finish with a subtle glimmer

My new favourite body lotion, the PRTTY PEAUSHUN Skin Tight body lotion contains subtle light reflecting particles to give skin a natural glow – you can instantly see the golden glimmer included in the formula on application. It also contains an innovative blend of natural plant extracts to lift, firm, tighten and diminish the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, varicose veins – even bruising and sore muscles. A top choice for helping get your pins into spring dresses post-shave! Plus, it adds just the right amount of glimmer (definitely safe for work) with a touch of tan for that semi-bronzed and healthy look we could all have a little more of!
