A happy hair week with five styles to try

Monday

Start with a good blow dry – taking the time to style your hair on a Monday morning will put a pep in your step as well as set the foundations for a happy hair week. To get off on the right start, try a nourishing treatment post-shampoo – I love the Suigo Absolute Volume Keratin Treatment. It works wonders when left in damp hair for 20minutes when you have the time (on the weekend) but also nourishes fast when applied to the ends of hair and rinsed after a couple of minutes (try applying then shaving or exfoliating while your 2 minutes tick over!)

Then, blow dry with a powerful styler that gets the job done stat (sans static!) and won’t make you late for your 9am meeting. Parlux is renowned for their super fast drying time, as well as their kind to strands styling. Totally worth the investment – they are renowned for lasting years and years.

Leave the house with freshly washed tresses and a good attitude – take that Monday!

Tuesday
Take advantage of day old hair (which usually has more potential to hold waves, curls and texture) and attempt a messy up do – best for mid-to long hair. Spray a little dry shampoo at the roots of your hair and rub in. This will create volume and body. My top pick is Batiste Dry Shampoo. Then, gather into a messy bun at the nape of your neck and pin in place. If you’ve kept your part on show (rather than pulling hair straight back) pull a few pieces of hair out around your face, and continue to massage fingertips into your roots, around your part, creating body and lift. Even short styles can give this a go, depending on how many layers you’ve had snipped.

Wednesday
Hump-day calls for easy hair, so slick everything back into a high topknot if your hair length will allow it. Shorter styles can try a slicked back, half up ‘do instead. Work with the natural oils now in your hair and add a little smoothing serum to get a really sleek look. Try the USpa Beehold styling gel, which provides style retention, and added shine to strands. Keep the bun high on your head for an on-trend look.

This low-maintenance ‘do will help you look wide-awake thanks to the mini-facelift-like qualities of pulling your hair straight back. Plus, it will see you straight to the gym too.

Thursday
Time for a fresh wash and a super sleek look – reach for your straightening stylers. Just be sure to prep your hair with a conditioning product to deter any damage. The Unico Leave-In Conditioning Spray will not only protect locks, but will also add some subtle shine. Plus, it smells great to boot.

Friday
Your locks should still be looking relatively straight, so make the most of it with a ponytail. No longer only the style of schoolyard days, the new generation of pony sits high, is sleek and totally work appropriate. Smooth hair back and secure with a kind-to-tresses hair tie – the Twistband style won’t snag and come in plenty of cute colours. You can also try taking a 1cm section of hair from the pony and wrapping it around the base or the elastic. Pin in place for a chic addition to an easy and classic style.
