An empowering and unique opportunity to represent young women from around Australia

Job description

UN Women Australia is offering a young woman the opportunity to represent young women from around Australia at the 2013 United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York City.

UN Women is dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It was launched in early 2011, bringing together UNIFEM and three other organisations within the United Nations. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their rights worldwide.

Upon being appointed, the Youth Delegate works closely with UN Women Australia and her local Young UN Women Australia Committee to develop a strategic plan for the position to maximise its impact. The Youth Delegate will work closely with UN Women Australia to ensure this strategic plan is in line with UN Women's priority areas. Ideally, the Youth Delegate will intern with our National Office for a period of 2-4 weeks before CSW to gain a strong understanding of the Commission, the work of UN Women Australia and our role at CSW.
