Job description

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is the independent prosecution authority of the Australian Capital Territory.

It comprises the Director of Public Prosecutions, an independent statutory officer, and staff employed under the Public Sector Management Act 1994, to assist the Director.

The duties of the position include to appear in more complex matters in the Magistrates, Childrens and Coroners Courts and conduct trials sentences and appeals in the Supreme Court; lead and manage a team responsible for the conduct of prosecutions, inquests and other related matters; and act as supervisor and mentor to prosecution staff and give guidance on difficult questions of criminal law and practice.
