OzHarvest's 12 million meals gets founder an entrepreneur of the year gong

Two female entrepreneurs were amongst the award recipients at the 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year Eastern region awards ceremony in Sydney Thursday night.
Ronni Kahn from OzHarvest, was named the 2012 Eastern region Social entrepreneur, while Imelda Roche AO, Roche Group, was awarded the Eastern region Champion of Entrepreneurship.
Ronni Kahn set up food rescue charity OzHarvest in 2003, which has now delivered over 12 million meals to those in need, through 420 charitable organisations. OzHarvest was the first in Australia to collect excess perishable and unsold food from food suppliers.
Imelda Roche, along with her husband Bill, founded the Nutrimetics International business. In 1986 she was awarded the Australian Pursuit of Excellence Award for her outstanding leadership in the direct selling industry. In 1993 she was the first Australian and the first woman to be appointed Chairman of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations. In 1997, Imelda was recognised as one of the 50 Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World.
